I believe that every person has at least one book in them. At the very least, we each have our life story that can be shared. And the process of compiling that story into a book brings about growth in the writer, as well as provides insight for the reader (even if it’s just family and friends). But how do we successfully take this journey of moving from a writer to an author? We need resources.
A DISCOVERED PASSION
As more people discover that I’m a published author, they share their writing stories, struggles and dreams and ask questions on a variety of topics pertaining to moving from being a writer to an author. Through various conversations, I’ve discovered that not only am I passionate about writing, but I’m also passionate about helping others improve in their writing and move towards becoming authors.

With the current technology available, creating a well-written literary work which can be a high-quality published book is easier than ever. So, I’ve decided to address people’s questions and compile some resources on this page. So send your thoughts, and I hope that this will develop into a genuine resource to enable writers to become authors.
Here’s a couple of blog posts to get you started:

I am excited about your book, Speedsuit Powers. I have been trying to do the same for the past ten years. Its inspiring. As soon as it comes out I am going to buy a copy!!
Keep pressing forward with your book. My first book, Transition, took ten years to write. My new one, Speedsuit Powers, took a year and a half, but I had the story for about 10 and was afraid to write it. Even while I was writing, there were times I was afraid. But I prayed, surrounded myself with encouraging people and took it one day at a time. What’s your book going to be about? I’d love to hear more.
I have several unfinished manuscripts. I am not afraid to finish, I just simply can’t. I always get to a certain point and then the well goes dry. They are all suspense/fiction type stuff. It’s not that I even want to publish or be famous, I just want to finish.
Running dry, huh? You sound like me.
I’ve got a few more manuscripts at various stages of development. I’m sitting on one now - that I really like - it’s and it’s about 90 percent done. But I felt like I needed to do Speedsuit Powers (my current book) first and work to finish up the other for October 2010.
When I tried to do more than one manuscript at a time - I couldn’t. But when I focused on one - it was easier. (I’ll still get scenes for other manuscripts and I’ll write them down so I don’t lose them.) Maybe you need to focus on a different aspect of the particular manuscript. What’s your writing process like? Have you outlined the main events that cover the whole story?
For me, I don’t necessarily write in chronological order. I may write a scene from chapter 1 and then get an idea for a scene in chapter 12. And then I try to fill in the blanks. Sometimes I may draw a scene and then I can begin writing it. Other times, a song may come to mind that serves as inspiration.
Thanks for the advice. Maybe I do need to try a diffrent approach. Usually, I write in chronological order. When I get stuck at a certain point, I stop. If I laid eveything out in an outline from begining to end and then worked on certain parts as ideas came to me I wouldn’t obssess on the parts I got stuck on. I hope that made sense.
What you said makes perfect sense. Feel free to ask questions. I enjoy talking to other writers about their work. I look forward to reading your work one day. I’ll be asking for your autograph one day.
Keep pressing forward!
