“Transition is a valuable resource for parents, teachers, mentors, and youth group leaders interested in developing whole and healthy young people who are ready to walk in their individual and collective purpose in Christ. Transition speaks to the struggles of identity common to young men and women alongside the revelation of the “high calling of God” that we each have access to through Jesus Christ. The reflection questions in the Appendix are extremely useful and make it possible to use Allen’s poetry as a vehicle for engaging young people in discussions that will open their eyes to the promising possibilities that lie ahead.”

“Growing up… I never had a mentor. That doesn’t mean that I did not have opportunities. I can think of several men who expressed interest in aiding my development, but I didn’t allow that to happen. Some I outright refused. Others I allowed into my life, however only a little. I was so convinced that I could do things on my own. Had I been more open I wonder how much farther along I’d be? How much more of an impact would I have made? Would I have been better equipped to overcome the fears that paralyzed me?”
My eyes have been opened to the need that surrounds me. I have begun to “see” young men who now stand where I once did. I am approached by young men, in search of their own destiny - many who have no clue - yet somehow they see something in me and gravitate towards my direction.
I know God seeks to develop strong men. I hope and am determined to be a part of this process.
In the near future, a mentor program will be initiated which will seek to help young men discover their God-given dreams and purpose beyond the mundane and materialistic society in which we live.
