WELCOME to APW3.com!

Welcome to my personal blog.  "It’s 2010… do you know where your soul’s purpose is?" Pascal Folly, said this quote: "An individual’s or organization’s life develops in the direction of the questions that are asked." It’s time to ask the tough questions so we can get to the real answers. When we have real answers, we can make genuine progress.  There are no promises that this process will be painless; but freedom looms on the horizon for everyone who seeks to be true with themselves, God and others.  We all need to go through this process - whether we live in the ‘hood’, on the farm or in the suburbs. So let’s examine our lives - from the mundane to the extraordinary - from movies to music to culture, and beyond - so we can truly live ALIVE!

Finding Your Strength

Where are you with finding your strengths? What do you think of this quote below? I’d love to ‘read your thoughts.’ - Allen Paul Weaver III

“Far too many people spend a lifetime headed in the wrong direction.  They go not only from the cradle to the cubicle, but then to the casket, without uncovering their greatest talents and potential.” - Tom Rath, Strengths Finder 2.0

What Major Desires Move You?

What major desires live within you?

I’ll be 35 years old next month - if I live to see July 27th.  I’m amazed at the fact that I’ve been around on this planet for over three decades.  What amazes me most is that over 15 years ago - fresh out of high school - I attempted suicide - feeling that there was no future worth me waiting for.  But God is merciful, because I’m still be here when so many others have succeeded in taking their own lives.  So I can’t take any credit for that. I’m so grateful for the life I’m living. It’s not free from problems, but it is fulfilling and beyond my limited dreams.

It’s been a long time…

A friend of mine emailed to check and see if I was doing alright.  They had stopped by this blog and saw I hadn’t written in a while.  I’m glad she did. It has been a while since my last post.

Things have been moving so fast and I’ve been balancing a lot: work, church, revisions and concept art for my new book, Speedsuit Powers (releases this Fall).  I’m also reading Moving from Ordinary to Extraordinary: The Teen’s Guide to High School Success , by Dr. Sharnnia Artis .  It’s a great read and is an excellent resource for teens transitioning from middle school to high school.

Briefcase Coincidence

How do you determine if somthing is a coincidence or not? Here’s an interesting story. I’ve been carrying two briefcases to work for the past few days, because of the amount of work I’ve needed to get done. However, this morning, after getting dressed, I had this strong desire to only take one with me. After thinking about it, I consolidated things and left.

When I got to the train station (I take two trains to get to work) there was a huge crowd on the platform. It turned out one of the trains coming from another station had broken down. So everyone had to crowd onto this one - which also happened to be short on the number of passenger cars.

God Has A Plan For You…

Most of us have heard the words, "God has a plan for you."  Well, they are more than words.  It is true that God has a plan for each one of us.  The question is whether or not we want that plan.

Many of us have been told that, "God wants us to prosper."  Well, this is true as well.  The question is whether or not our definition of prosperity is the same as God’s definition.

“Desperation”

“Desperation” by Allen Paul Weaver III

Here’s a piece I wrote back in 2007.  I think it may speak to where some people may feel themselves to be today.

Insights To Success in 2009

As we enter 2009 , all of us are concerned about the economy, making ends meet, being successful and living a meaningful existence. We’ve seen the news stories about those who’ve lost their jobs, their homes and their savings; and we either fall into this category ourselves or know someone who does. Many of us are anxious about a future that seems uncertain, but I believe that the future is in fact certain… we just need ‘eyes to see and ears to hear’ in order to take advantage of the opportunities that stand before us. My life is far from perfect and sometimes I get anxious too, so I’ve been pondering my own existence, making observations and looking to the Bible for guidance. Here are five things to consider as we seek to press forward in 2009.

Dreamers Change the World

I believe that Dreamers change the world!

The Dreamer

One of my favorite accounts from the Bible is the story of Joseph, which starts in Genesis 37.

“Joseph was a young man who had been called a Dreamer by those closest to him (his brothers) - by those who did not understand nor believe in his dreams. He never asked for these dreams… yet they lived in him - having been placed within his heart by the hand of God. It took many years and the encountering of some very difficult circumstances before his dreams came to pass - and then those who knew, but had resisted, began to see the fruit of these dreams. It was the fruit of these dreams which lead to the salvation of many people.”

Destiny Is Waiting On Us

“DESTINY IS WAITING ON US” (formerly posted on February 6, 2008)

My Writing Accountability Partner, Tisha Y. Lewis, spoke these words to me after hearing about my speaking opportunity at Bethune-Cookman University in January ’07:  I was able to dialogue with Communication and Theater Arts students about linking their experience with opportunities while sharing from my book, Transition: Breaking Through the Barriers.  This was an exciting and uncomfortable time: exciting because speaking here was one of my dreams; uncomfortable because I had never done it before.  Yet through the mixed emotions, there was fulfillment!

“Destiny is waiting on us.”  This phrase is fascinating, yet unnerving because destiny is often thought of as something we wait on.  But similar to the scientific discovery that light is both particle and a wave; perhaps we too will realize that destiny is both given and received.
