About a month or so ago, I got a copy of The Message Behind the Movie: How To Engage With A Film Without Disengaging Your Faith. The book is written by Douglas M. Beaumont. At first sight I knew it was for me - given that I’m a person who loves Storytelling and who is serious about my faith.

FINALLY! The Iron Man DVD is here! Just released today! I’ve been waiting for the DVD since Opening Day back in May. I’ve been saving my change for months and picked it up on my lunch break. It helps when there’s a Bestbuy right across the street.
(Although it takes a lot of discipline to stay away from those un-necessary purchases. But I”m making it, thanks for asking.)

It Is The Question That Drives Us
What is the power of the Saiyan? Why does it draw men? I don’t know about you, but I get a thrill when Goku or Vegeta or Gohan power up to Supersaiyan – especially when Goku powers up to Super Saiyan 3! The raw power is tremendous! And let’s not talk about the fight scenes against Majin Buu or Brolly!
But I just had a realization about a major draw – if not THE major draw of the series. It’s a deep-seated urge that most of us men may not even realize unless we take the time to think about it: it is an epic saga about Fathers and Sons . It’s a story about Mentorship .

My wife and I just finished watching the movie Antwone Fisher (starring Denzel Washington and Derek Luke). It was on television. It’s a powerful movie that is an excellent reminder that we can overcome the fears and obstacles. It’s a great movie about mentoring and speaking the truth about our lives in order to press toward internal and external freedom.
I remember when it came out, (Denzel Washington’s directorial debut) I took a young man, Michael Spencer (who’s now in the Marines) to see it. This is a great movie for African American men and women to see. What’s even more amazing is that the movie is based on the actual life of Antwone Fisher . When you get a chance - Watch it.

Have you ever watched Dragon Ball Z? If you have then you know about the power of a Saiyan. If you’re a guy and you’ve seen an episode you most likely love it. I have yet to meet a guy who doesn’t. My wife has tried to watch it with me, but she only last five minutes or so before she gets up and says, ‘I don’t see what you like about this." If you have no idea what I’m talking about but want to know more… keep reading.
Let me now place my disclamer: There are two versions of DBZ - the unedited Japanese version and the edited American version. I watch the edited version that used to air on the Cartoon Network and understand that the violence in the unedited version that can be much stronger. So for those who would want to watch this show - I recommend the edited version.

Do You Love Star Wars, but Love God More?
Dick Staub’s book is Outstanding!
Dick Staub introduces a new term into the Christian Lexicon, through his book, Christian Wisdom of the Jedi Masters. The term ‘Jedi Christian’, in my opinion, seeks to recapture the aspect of Christianity that has been lost among the masses of a Popular and increasingly Technological Culture - that of awe, power and mysticism. The term becomes a lens by which we can view the truths of our Christian walk, and those truths are a lens by which we can view the world of the Jedi - making correlations and distinctions between fact and fiction, fantasy and reality and ultimate issues of eternal weights and measures - the prime issue being illuminated through aspects of Jedi lore… that the life of a genuine follower of Jesus Christ should be filled with awe, power and love. Then it is even in the mundane that miracles take place on a daily basis and when we encounter those situations and circumstances beyond human control… it is through Christ that we are no longer powerless.
