"It’s 2010… do you know where your soul’s purpose is?" A colleague of mine, Pascal Folly, said this quote: "An individual’s or organization’s life develops in the direction of the questions that are asked." It’s time to ask the tough questions so we can get to the real answers. When we have real answers, then we can make genuine progress.  There are no promises that this process will be painless; but the promise of freedom looms on the horizon for everyone who truly seeks to be true with themselves, God and others.  We all need to go through this process - whether we live in the ‘hood’, on the farm or in the suburbs. So let’s examine our lives - from the mundane to the extraordinary - from movies to music to culture, and beyond - so we can truly live ALIVE!

I just watched an amazing video on Ted.com.  It’s about Gever Tulley,s Tinkering School.  It seems like an excellent way to unleash creativity and problem solving.  This definitely helps a person see the world from a different point of view: a solution-based perspective instead of a problem-based one.

I don’t know about you, but the older I get, the more I want to create things.  I have ideas that have lived with me since I was a boy - inventive ideas that won’t leave.  I need to create.  I think we all - in various ways - need to create.  God is the Master Creative Artist and humanity was made in God’s image… we are creators.  But so many of us choose the status quo of ‘trying to make ends meet’ and ‘keeping where it’s safe and predictable’, instead of venturing out into a truly creative realm.

What major desires live within you?

 
I’ll be 35 years old next month - if I live to see July 27th.  I’m amazed at the fact that I’ve been around on this planet for over three decades.  What amazes me most is that over 15 years ago - fresh out of high school - I attempted suicide - feeling that there was no future worth me waiting for.  But God is merciful, because I’m still be here when so many others have succeeded in taking their own lives.  So I can’t take any credit for that. I’m so grateful for the life I’m living. It’s not free from problems, but it is fulfilling and beyond my limited dreams.

I had the privilege to attend the 168 Hour Film Festival in Glendale, California, which was founded by John David Ware.  If you don’t know, 168 is a speed film making contest where teams have one week (168 hours) to produce a short film based on a theme and a bible verse.  This year’s competition theme was ‘Family Business.’ The competition usually takes place in February/March and then the festival and awards ceremony happens in April.

Once, there were two boys… from a place called ‘Little Town.’ They both had dreams and aspirations, but neither knew how they were going to reach their goals. They would often sit on the gravel path by the roadside, just on the median where the grass gave way to stone, and look up at the blue sky and talk about their dreams… Days would pass and they would talk… and talk… and talk… Sometimes they would make fun of each other when neither had a clue about how to make their dreams come true.

This is one of the key movie quotes that made Cuba Gooding Jr. memorable!  AND it’s a question the whole world is basically asking, because our broken economy is affecting the economies of other countries.  Where has all the money gone?  How will I take care of my family?  Where will I find a new job?  ‘Show me the money!!!”  I want to help you not only find the money, but more importantly I want to help you discover your purpose so your life can move beyond money.  So, keep reading!
