I had the opportunity to be interviewed (on 11/18/09) on the “Open” talk show, hosted by Daren Jaimes. It’s a local show on Bronxnet Community Television. We discussed my new book, Speedsuit Powers, and how it can help bring hope to urban youth. Here’s the update from my Speedsuit Powers book website.
Speedsuit Powers releases Tuesday December 1, 2009. You can purchase your copy at Amazon.com
Alright, here’s the first official Speedsuit Powers book trailer. The story follows a boy who has to deal with some major “bully drama”. If you have middle school/high school aged kids, or you work with youth, you’re going to want to get them a copy of this novel. You may even want a copy for yourself! (One adult read the book in 5 hours. She said she couldn’t put it down.)
The novel releases December 1, 2009 on Amazon.com, so save the date: Tuesday December 1st. Feel free to let me know what you think and also pass this video onto others!
I am holding in my hands for the first time, the very first copy of my new book, Speedsuit Powers . It’s a teen fiction novel where the main character, Curtis, is the new kid at a new school dealing with bully issues. It releases this December. My prayer, hope and desire is that this book will help to positively impact urban youth culture. That it will inspire, motivate and educate youth to see their lives differently and make new choices (or stand by decisions they’ve already made) which lead to true and lasting success.
It doesn’t take a genius to mess up punctuation and grammar. But you can look like a genius by using them correctly…
It’s Wednesday April 15, 2009 and I’m sitting on a plane flying from New York to Texas: four months before Speedsuit Powers, my new book, is slated to be released (August 2009). And right now, I’m reading through a book my wife gave me on punctuation and grammar (she’s a reading and language arts teacher).
I recently met Dr. Sharnnia Artis , author of Moving From Ordinary to Extraordinary: The Teen’s Guide to High School Success. Dr. Artis holds a Ph.D in Industrial and Systems Engineering. She is a wonderfully gifted woman who is involved in her community on a local and national level. Since I work with youth, I’ve added her book to my reading list and look forward to digesting what she has to say.
If you work with youth or have children of your own who are getting ready for high school or are already in high school, then Dr. Artis’ book will definitely help them to rise up and reach their full potential - and help you with influencing them towards greatness.
Just wanted to share the short synopsis for second book, my upcoming novel, SpeedSuit Powers - to be released in June. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

SpeedSuit Powers A Novel by Allen Paul Weaver III
Imagine moving from the suburbs to the inner city and colliding with a bully who’s bigger than you, stronger than you and faster than you. What do you do?
Curtis Powers is living this life! Trying to pursue his dreams while avoiding his nemesis, Treyshawn Jinkins – who seems to exist just to make his days miserable!
Hey people! Here’s what you’ve been waiting for - the synopsis about my new novel, SpeedSuit. I can’t tell you why it’s called SpeedSuit without giving away more than what I want to at this point in time. You understand, don’t you? Enjoy.
-Allen Paul Weaver III -
Curtis Powers has problems, but what teenager doesn’t? Peer pressure, relationships, family issues - the usual. Since his dad died it’s just been him, his mom and older brother. Thank God for them or his world would’ve crumbled a few years back. But Curtis keeps everything in check; and when things get to be too much, he writes, throws himself into his school work and watches his real passion: Track & Field. If it wasn’t for the asthma, he’d be doing more than watching.
On Thursday, October 30th I made an amazing discovery. The standard procedure when a writer is preparing a new book is to look for similar books on the market to study their production and marketing techniques.
As you may know, I’m working on my second book - a novel (Feb 2009 - I’ve written about it before ) which is geared towards middle school and high school boys (as well as their fathers). Since the story has ’superhero’ elements, I wanted to include illustrations in each chapter. One of my issues is figuring out how many drawings to do.
