Did you know God answers prayer in creative ways?  Sometimes even humorous ways?

RUNNING LATE!

I was running late this morning.  Really late and there was an all-staff meeting at work.  If I missed this train, I would definitely be late for the meeting.  I had around 60 seconds to run two blocks and cross a busy intersection, with my briefcase in hand, to catch the train.  I prayed, ‘Lord, please let the train be a few minutes late.’  The train had been ten minutes late on Monday and now it was Friday.  I was on time Monday, but late today.

The more I ran, the more I thought, ‘I’m not going to make it.’  Half a block away I could see the train sitting in the station and I thought, ‘Oh, great!  Either I’m going to make it or miss it!’  I kept running and by the time I crossed the street, the train was still there!

WHAT IN THE WORLD?

‘It should have been gone by now!’  The airbrakes disengaged and I was sure it was going to pull off, but as I turned the corner to go down the stairs, there was a guy on crutches, doing his best to quickly make it to the train.  He was half way down already and as I reached where he was, I heard the train conductor say, ‘I’m waiting for you.’  He told the conductor ‘thanks’.

So I made the train through God’s creative answer to my prayer (and I’m sure the prayers of the few others running too)!

THANKS…

The guy with the crutches came in the same door to the train that I did and was standing diagonally across from me.  I told him, ‘I just have to say thank you.  If it weren’t for you I would have missed the train.”

We both shared a laugh and I proceeded to sit down and thank God for His creative answer to prayer.  Who would have thought - a guy on crutches!  Just think, God knew ahead of time that this guy’s injury would turn out to be beneficial to others as they sought to meet their daily obligations.  Usually we get mad when we have somewhere to be and a person is moving slow in front of us - but in this case… slow was extremely beneficial!

GOD’S CREATIVITY… YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Today, when you pray, don’t be locked in to THE WAY you want the prayer to be answered.  Don’t focus so much on the HOW, just know that God WILL - rest in that - and keep running!  If you focus on how YOU want things to work out, you just might miss the way God wants to work out your situation. In your fast-paced day to day activities, look for God’s creative work around you and then don’t forget to give thanks to Him and the people He uses to bless you.  And remember that the slow person in front of you just might hold the key to your deliverance.:-)
