Hey people! Here’s what you’ve been waiting for - the synopsis about my new novel, SpeedSuit. I can’t tell you why it’s called SpeedSuit without giving away more than what I want to at this point in time. You understand, don’t you? :-) Enjoy.

Curtis Powers has problems, but what teenager doesn’t? Peer pressure, relationships, family issues - the usual. Since his dad died it’s just been him, his mom and older brother.  Thank God for them or his world would’ve crumbled a few years back.  But Curtis keeps everything in check; and when things get to be too much, he writes, throws himself into his school work and watches his real passion: Track & Field. If it wasn’t for the asthma, he’d be doing more than watching. 

The life of a teenager is tough enough, but moving to a new city and a new school turns up the heat on everything.  Being the ‘Smart kid’ doesn’t win many friends either, but it sure helps when you need creative solutions… 

Treyshawn Jinkins, a.k.a. ‘Lil Treacherous’, also doesn’t have a father, but for different reasons.  Even with a tough exterior, problems weigh heavy on him.  He’s one of the fastest runners in the school, but his hot temper got him kicked off the track team - their loss.  He owns this school - and the new kid is an easy target… but not a dumb one. 

Kelly Washington has known Treyshawn since the third grade and still can’t stand him; even so, she puts up with his antics anyway.  While leaving school for dance class, she sees Treyshawn beating up Curtis and realizes that what the new kid needs is a friend.  With two older brothers who get respect from everybody, Kelly seems like a godsend to Curtis as she helps him get acclimated to his new environment. But even she can’t stop the inevitable and discovers that Curtis has a plan.

The clash between ‘Smart kid’ and bully can’t be avoided as two worlds collide!  When the dust settles, an unexpected future emerges; one that points far beyond a mere neighborhood to a place where the dreams of many are possible.  A new era has dawned and Curtis’ SpeedSuit is only the beginning.
