Hey Everybody,

Do you have one of those projects that you’ve been thinking about for a long time? Maybe you’ve been saying for years that you would get around to it and now it seems like forever? I remember a quote I read a while back, "Most people talk about their dreams, very few actually go out and do them."

I’ve got some projects that I’ve been holding onto for several years, but there’s one in particular that I’ve carried around with me for at least 10 years. I would always talk about it and even did some illustrations and technical schematics. But all I did was talk.

Well, back in April, a friend of mine finally called me on it! He looked at my illustrations and said, "Allen this is some good stuff! When are you going to do something with this?"

I responded with my usually, "Well, I don’t know…" An excuse I use to cover up my fear of failure.

But my friend and his manager pressed me, "Seriously, you need to do something with this. You need to do something soon."

And thus I was challenged! You see, my friend, Demetrius Veasy, writes, illustrates and publishes his own comic, Lions 12 . And he was challenging me to pick one of the many stories that live inside of me - and to bring it to life.

Do you know how scary that is? To take something that’s so dear to your heart and release it in the world? But I prayed and made the choice to pursue the challenge and I’ve been working feverishly on the storyline and initial art concepts ever since!

So here’s the Big Challenge:

To have a full blown novel, with illustrations, done in time for the 2009 New York Comicon Convention , which takes place Febrauary 6-9. That’s less than 4 months from now!

Honestly, I don’t know if I’m going to make it, but I’m going to try! It’s scary, but totally worth it.

If you’ve got one of those "Secret Passion" projects you keep holding onto, I’m Paying Forward the swift kick in the behind that I got. I challenge you to get to work and make it real. :-)

Check in here for updates on my progress.
