Tue 6 May 2008

On May 3rd, I had the opportunity to attend the 13th annual Biola Media Conference, which was held on the backlot of CBS Studios in California. Usually it’s held at Biola University which is also in California.
The Biola Media Conference is one of the largest gatherings of Christians who work in various aspects of the Hollywood industry. This is my second time attending.

It was an amazing time of discovery, as we delved into the direction digital media was taking, as well as the Hollywood studios, which influence not only our American culture, but cultures on every continent of this world.

(Me with Sean Michael of "Akeelah and the Bee", last year at Biola, 2007)
The networking and fellowship opportunities were priceless! We were able to listen to and interact with Christians who are producing some of the most watched shows, movies and internet media out there (like Dog Whisperer, Intervention, Elf, and Veggie Tales ) - who also have a strong faith from which they draw from.

(Author, Director, Producer Phil Cooke of Cooke Pictures and myself at Biola 2008)

(Will Bigham from "On the Lot" and me last year at the Inter-Mission Gala. Will spoke this year at Biola 2008)
I found it personally inspiring to meet so many who are doing what they love within the context of God’s vision for their life. The entire experience helped me to see not only where I presently am… but where I want to be. The Biola Media Conference reminded me of the gifts and talents within me that need to be used to their full potential.

(John D. Ware, founder of 168 Hour Film Project at Biola 2008)

(Me and several other comic book artists at Biola, 2008)
This experience helped me to conquer some of my fears that I know were keeping me from pressing forward in several areas of my life.

If you have any interest in Christ and the Hollywood industry, you need to attend this conference next year. I’m looking forward to it!
Thank you Biola Media Conference!
