Private: Destiny is Waiting On Us: The Enemy of our Purpose - Part 6
Posted by gar_dien under Risks and Opportunities , Self-Help , SpiritualityDestiny is Waiting On Us. We talked, in Part 2, about the opposition that’s often faced as we journey towards our purpose. Not everyone will be happy about our pursuit. One reason in particular is because some who oppose us live lives of quiet desperation. Our pursuit illuminates their darkness.
But, I want to go behind the scenes to the source of the opposition: the Devil. An explanation of suffering and opposition within the human experience makes no sense unless evil is real. Why do bad things happen to good people if God is good? Because we are caught in a war and the enemy seeks our destruction. To remove the devil from the equation is to have an imcomplete formula - which causes us to make unwise decisions.
As we look at the origins of humanity, in Genesis, we find that great destiny and opportunity stood before Adam and Eve - and also a great evil… with a personality.
Satan has always been the Enemy of humanity - all that we are and all that we are created to be. Our lives are given value by God - because we are created in His image and likeness. The Devil has been an enemy of God and therefore, we are his enemy. To see life from a different perspective is to miss an integral part of our existence.
The Devil goes by many names, but one of them is Father of Lies. He uses deception as his primary weapon. We see in the garden of Eden, this very deception being used on our First Parents, twisting their logic, resulting in humanity’s first sin - which led to our Fall.
We need to understand that the Adversary, the Devil, goes around like a roaring lion seeking those to devour. (1 Peter 5:8) We are hated thoroughly by Darkness. And when we seek God’s purpose for our lives, we are elevated on the “radar” of the Enemy.
As you seek after your purpose, remember what Ephesians 6:12 states, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (NIV)
The Devil will fight hard to:
1. Destroy us BEFORE we can get to our purpose.
2. Intimidate us as we DRAW CLOSE to our purpose.
3. Deceive us after we have DISCOVERED our purpose.
4. Overload us so we will never COMPLETE our purpose.
Opposition may come through other people or circumstances. But, remember the very real personality that is the source of all that fights against us and our purpose - the Devil. And know that even though we have an Enemy, we also have a Victor who fights for us. Jesus Christ.
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
“ (James 4:7) NIV
Destiny is Waiting on Us.
