Private: Destiny is Waiting on Us: God-given Dreams - Part 7
Posted by gar_dien under Risks and Opportunities , Self-Help , SpiritualityDestiny is waiting on us. What are we doing about it?
The average self-help expert will tell us, that we should follow our dream and listen to our heart. This is true to a point and that point is when our dream and heart doesn’t line up with God’s dreams for us.
How often do we take to heart and mind the scripture: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) NIV
How often do we ask God about His dreams and plans for us? How often do we seek His heart to see if our lives are headed in the right direction?
My uncle told me how he wanted to be a professional baseball player. He was very athletic and could have been, but then God called him into the ministry. The dream my uncle had was not the dream God had for him.
God is our Biggest Fan - desiring for us to be successful in life. But this success needs to be achieved His way. It’s so easy to be like the performer/musician Usher and say “My Way… My way… What I say - goes… I’m in control… My way.”
Are we the ones truly in control? We very well may achieve a life filled with money, fame and possessions and even do good things for others along the way. The world is full of people who have made great strides towards and in their dreams… but… many of these same people will confess that they don’t have a relationship with God or that it’s nominal at best.
Jesus asks us this question: “What good is it to gain the whole world and lose your soul?” (Luke 9:25) It is possible to pursue your dream and not be satisfied within yourself. But it is not possible to pursue God’s dream for your life… and not be fulfilled.
Destiny is Waiting on Us. Jesus says, “If anyone tries to save their life, they will lose it. But if they lose their life for My sake and the gospels… they will find it.” (Mark 8:35)
God’s dreams for us are always bigger and more impacting than any dream we could ever have for ourselves. Our Destiny is Waiting on Us. Will we settle for our own limited schemes or will we go all the way and see what God has in store for us? If you want to go all the way, begin by asking God to reveal your purpose. Having dreams are nice… but having a God-given dream is wonderful.
“His Way… His Way… What God says goes. He’s in control… His Way.”
Let me know what you think.
