Are you a talker?
I realize that one of my greatest strengths is also one of my greatest weaknesses. I am a talker who communicates through verbal and written formats (and others). My mind is often brimming with ideas and I can talk about them and write about them… till my voice is hoarse and my hand aches - but actually DOING SOMETHING - putting my ideas to task… now that’s my weakness. But I’m learning to overcome it by being determined and focused.
What about you? Are you a talker more than a doer? How can you move towards actually getting things done?
One thing I’m doing is prioritizing. Which ideas and desires matter most? And what needs to be done to bring them to life? Second, I’ve been surrounding myself with individuals who can get things done in their own lives.
An example of this is my book. As you know it took me ten years to write it and a year to publish it. During this time, I did a lot of talking and when it came down to the final stages I had to focus on the exact steps to bring the book into reality. I almost gave up along the way. Now, I’ve been talking about the impact the book has been having and how I need to re-purpose it’s message into other formats, but for almost a year -all I’ve been doing is talking about it. Now finally, after some help from my friend, Andrew Seltz, I’ve been able to focus and move from talking to doing. I’m currently working on the first volume of an audio book cd, which should be completed soon.
Most people in life only dream or talk about what they wish they could do - while relatively few actually go out and get things accomplished.
Who do you want to be?
Let me know what you think.
