Do you know who you are? Do you know who you were meant to become? Are you living out the purpose for which you were created?
When I was growing up, one of my biggest fears was getting hurt, so I did not take part in many extra curricular activities. For example, I loved martial arts and was even good at Ju Jitsu, but my fear of getting hurt kept me from being a great martial artist. I was too afraid to fully commit to the task of learning and if you know anything about life - if one cannot fully commit to a task then there is no way that the outcome will be the best possible.
This fear has carried over into many areas of my life and I have struggled for years to be totally free. It is like a snake or an octopus which wraps itself around my neck and slowly sucks the life out of me. Where did it come from? I’m not really sure; all I know is that it’s here and has, over the years, sunk its hooks in my psychological flesh, and has fought to not let me go. However, I have experienced freedom and am determined to be completely free. Free to live a life without being afraid of failure; without being afraid of being hurt; and without being afraid of other people’s opinions who are comfortable in their own insecurity and would love for me to be like them… living life afraid - living a stifled, muffled existence.
What about you? What are you afraid of? How does the fear of getting hurt (physically, mentally, spiritually) keep you from committing to what you know needs to be done in your life? Are you living your life as one afraid, believing this is who you are? Or do you have a picture of who you were meant to be - someone full of faith, love, power and ability?
The Bible says, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
When will you break through the barriers that has been your false life thus far… and live?
